How You Can Visualize Yourself to Weight Loss Success
How do you see yourself? Do you really believe you can lose
weight and achieve your goals?
Self-image defines what you think you can or cannot do. You
always act according to the person you believe yourself to be. How you view yourself
dictates all your actions, behaviors and abilities. It also sets boundaries and
defines what you cannot do.
To achieve a healthy body, you must change any limiting
beliefs and replace with the vision of what you want in your life. If you have
limiting beliefs about becoming healthy and losing weight you are setting yourself
up for defeat before you even get started.
If you believe you have a slow metabolism your brain says, “okay
if that’s what you want here you go”. If you believe you will always carry extra
weight than your body will agree with you and hang on to the fat. If you see yourself as an overweight person
then you will always gain back any weight you lose because that’s what your
brain expects so it guides you to make decisions to reflect that vision of yourself.
How we view ourselves effects how much effort we put into
any goals. If you do not truly see yourself succeeding in weight loss, then you
naturally will not put as much effort into the process.
To make real change you must change your self-image- that’s where
visualization comes into play.
How to Use Visualization to Achieve Your Weight Loss Goals
Now that you have set a weight loss goal, using visualization
is a powerful way to achieve it.
If you can see yourself achieving the body you want in your
mind, your brain will help guide you to make choices that will lead you to
success.
Before we can truly believe in a goal, we must first have an
idea what it will look and feel like.
A good goal is specific, and visualizing makes you define
the details and allows you to adjust your ideas as you sift through different scenarios.
It also helps your brain believe the outcome is possible.
How to Create a Visual Picture and Positive Self-Image Affirmations
Set aside some time in a place you won’t be disturbed for a
few minutes.
Write down your big weight loss goal in present tense, like
you have already achieved it.
Now, think of a scenario to build a picture around. It can simple
day to day experiences like going to work, out to dinner with your family, get
together with friends, a holiday or something big like your dream vacation day.
Translate this scene into words and pictures. Start adding
details using all your senses.
- How do you feel?
- What do you look like? What are your wearing (or not wearing)?
- What do you hear going on around you?
- Are there any smells?
- Are you eating or drinking anything and if so, what does it taste like?
- What are you doing exactly?
Really put thought and feelings into this. Your brain does
not know if what you are visioning is real or imaginary. It will respond to the
feeling behind your thought and make plans to help you bring the imaginary and
reality together.
Do this visualization often in different scenarios. You might
find that your vision changes each time. Your internal motivation is taking necessary
action to help you achieve your dreams.
Dream Your Life and Write It Down to Make It Come True
Each time you do a visualization write the details on an
index card and put with the other affirmations you have created. Read these affirmations each morning before your day gets started and again before
you go to sleep.
Using this type of visualization will help things just fall
into place.
You are creating an unstoppable force. Your brain is much
more of a weight loss powerhouse than exercise or even what you eat. When you
create your own detailed visualizations for how you want your life to be, the
healthier person inside you comes out and helps guide you to your dreams. If
you listen, you'll have all the answers inside of you when it comes to creating your healthy life easily and forever!!!
Now go dream it and live it.......
